Creative Colors

In fall of 2012, I started a paint project. I had no plans for it, no direction. I just wanted to paint a piece that went no where but eventually would become art. So I slowly started making tiny paint smears of any color I could come up with. The smears turned into strips, then circles, then swirls and I worked on it a little bit over the course of a year. I finally finished it up last week. I think it's neat.

Talented Hubby

My talented hubby made this double/twin bunk bed for the Wyoming house. When he first showed me his plans, I thought it would take weeks or months to build but before I knew it, it was up in our guest room in Jersey! It's quite cozy too. Bootnard loves the privacy of the top bunk. I always consider myself to be the artistic one of the relationship but there is obviously room for two!

"Pair-A-Dice".

Last Halloween, my Mother needed a last minute Halloween costume for a Bunco party. We came up with the idea to go as a pair of Bunco dice or a "pair-a-dice". Off to Michael's we went! We got black paper, white poster board and black ribbon with white dots. It Cost us no more than $20. We punched holes into the card board and tied them together with the ribbon and created suspenders so the die will hang comfortably off your shoulders. We had such a good time making the costumes, while sipping cocktails. It was a fun Mother-Daughter creative activity and I definitely know I get my creative juices from her! I did not attend the Bunco party but she came home with the Best Costume Award!

Collages

My favorite buddies to create with, Ame & Ed introduced me to collages. I have not done one of these since my freshman year of high school. They told me to just go with it, have no plans or direction. You just start it and discover your theme on the way. Fun and inspiring stuff!! This piece below I have named Hysteria.
The next one has no direction, except pointing out my birthday. It was the very first one I did and I went along with what I found in magazines. It is interesting to look at.
I love the mystery behind this piece. The only direction I had was that I was feeling adventurous that day. I believe I made this on the night of the Blue Moon in August 2012. We were all excited because the power went out at work and we got sent home early. We got a little alcohol, went home and created! We kept saying that night, "It happens once in a blue moon". Thanks to Ame & Ed for re-introducing me to collage art!

Journals of Jenn

I have always enjoyed expressing my feelings on paper. It helps me organize my thoughts. I always feel fresh after I write, like I was just venting to my sister or best friend, like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I still remember the Christmas I got my first Diary. I was 8 years old and I felt so grown up, like I hit a milestone. I can't remember exactly why I decided that keeping a journal was important to me but today they are one of my most prized possessions, possessions I would risk my life to rescue in a fire. Having filled 17 journals in my life, I look at them like I published my own "Chronicles of Jennifer Walker-Waclawsky, an accomplishment over 24 years in the making! I always said that when I am an old lady in her 80's with nothing to do, I can always go back in time and relive the year I turned 21 or the year of my wedding. I can compare the person I was before with how I am now and note the differences. I can see how I changed and I why. Documenting my life is something I will always be proud of and another reason why I began this blog. Below is my collection of Journals.
The next two pictures are of my very first diary and my first entry. Don't mind the punctuation, I was only 8 at the time!
A few of my favorite journals...

When I woke up on this day 8 years ago, all I wanted to do was lay out and read all day. Thank you Erin(another Bestie of mine)for badgering me until I agreed to come out with you!! :o) Below is the second picture we ever took together at Fager's Island Deck Party on 6.13.05.

The Creative Shed

Last summer I tore apart our detached garage and converted it into a studio. It was just a mound of storage and unopened boxes from when we moved in. I have tried to turn it into my gardening area but I was usually scared to go in because it was pretty much infested with spiders. I even got the 1 year spider and bug killer spray but couldn't get to it because there were spiders on it! Ironic right? Half the space in the shed is taken up from storage So I cleaned it out, bug bombed it, painted it and now I have my own little studio! I organized my art supplies and use our old beer pong table as a desk. It will be fun to organize it "pinterest style" once we move the furniture to Wyoming and I have more room. It looks messy but it is so nice to have all my supplies in one place! Here is a look.

Wyoming

Doug and I always shared a dream of living in the middle of no where. Most people do not understand that. But it is very logical to us. When we drove half way across country and skied in 5 different states for our honeymoon, we recognized how at peace we both felt. Some might consider being in the middle of Wyoming with the closest town 2.5 hours away to be a little creepy. We felt the opposite, we felt at home. So an idea was born on our honeymoon. Someday, not sure when or where but we would buy a home in the mountains, with a forest in our backyard and back country skiing anytime we want. The winter of 2012 we took our annual ski trip to Utah and drove through Idaho to Jackson Wyoming for a quick 3 day adventure. We fell in love with the place all over again. So we decided to start working on this dream. Doug and his Father went out in October 2012 to house hunt, we discovered that Alpine Wyoming was the town we would eventually buy a home in. We casually told my Dad about this idea and he wanted in. He is all about riding his motorcycle in remote places. Tomorrow Doug flies out to California to meet my Dad and they are driving to Alpine! Everyday it seems like this little dream is becoming more and more of a reality! Not only will we use this home as a vacation escape, we may eventually move out there for good and live the small town life. The life of snowmobiling into town when they get 2 feet of snow, back country skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, ATVing and more. It may not work out, we may not even like it but it is worth a shot if you ask me!
Update: We are under contract!!! Settlement is end of July. Video coming soon! Update: As of 7.31.13 We are official home owners in the great state of Wyoming!

Max

Meet Max. He is my Godson. This picture was drawn when he was about 11 months, now he is almost 2 1/2! He is the cutest and silliest little boy I know. He brings everyone that meets him joy, with his blonde hair, blue eyes and funny personality. I have never tried to draw a child before and it is surprisingly easy. It is something that I would like to do with all my friends' kids' and mine someday.

Blast from my past

My days of college are long over but I wish I had been more confident with my art work when I was in school. I used to dread having to show the whole class my creations for constructive criticism. I didn't mind the criticism, it helped me but it was talking in front of 30 people that got to me. Plus having to have an opening statement that summarizes the art piece. I always had a problem with that, I feel like the way you view art is a reflection of the person you are. By having a statement you are pushing people to view it as you want them to, not giving them a chance to form their own translation. I think it is fun to let people come up their own thoughts because they may have a different way to view a piece of art that opens the flood gates. It is an inspiration to hear how someone views what you create, they may have an idea or thought that you never even knew you put into their heads because of the work you have done. So now that I am older more confident and not as shy, I will take any criticism I can get! So please don't be shy.

Color

When someone asks me what my favorite color is, I always have to think a moment before answering because I love them all. Sometimes my favorite will be a plum or deep teal, sometimes a pale yellow or bold red, it is always changing. I love color especially when they are all together. I have always been attracted to rainbows since I was very young, who wouldn't be right? I used to chase them to find what was at the end of a rainbow. Colorful abstracts catch my eye and my heart every time. I used an old canvas that I started an abstract piece of work on about 2 years ago. It was ok but I was never very proud of it. It was just a bunch of colors thrown carelessly together, mixing and becoming to brownish. So I used bright water colors to spice it up. Here is a peak at my latest work, everyday it becomes more colorful and bright. I only wish I thought to take a picture of the canvas before I added to it, but that is how I am as an artist. I get an idea and jump on it...sometimes to quickly. So here is a nice half way point..

Jewerly Organizer

Here was my inspiration I found on Pinterest... The end result is below! After completion I became even more inspired, and decided to make 3 more! I currently have 2 more I am working on and will post pictures when they are completed. It makes for a pretty focal point and great conversation piece. Supplies Used: Crown molding, miter saw, wood glue, spackle, spray paint, garden netting, nails, and thin wood. I am happy to report that I only money I spent on making this was the spray paint. You never know what you already have that can be used for the better! Isn't it pretty?
After the completion of my first organizer, I went right onto a second. This one I made a bit smaller. I auctioned this one off to a friend's(friend at the time) Autism and Suicide benefit, which earned more than 100 tickets apparently. I was happy to help out for a good cause. Update: I do not know for sure what happened to this organizer. As far as I know it could be in the trash. Be careful who you trust, the benefit (from what I heard) was a fake! Lesson learned!
The next jewelry organizer I made for my good artist friend Ame and personalized to fit her personality. Ame and Edward are also responsible for sending me on an artistic bend over the summer. They have some amazing art work I would love to display on here someday. Ame and Ed are both very inspiring artists, with very clever minds. Ame loved her jewelry organizer! And I had such a great time making it for her. I used an old newspaper from India, scrap booking paper with jungle prints, I have hidden messages all over the place such as her favorite number. I am so happy she is making such great use of it! Now you can turn your jewelry into a work of art.

Pet Drawings

This is just something I do, when I feel like it and have a few hours to kill.

Paint Chip Art

I started this cheap and easy project months ago but it is very time consuming. Again another Pinterest motivation. I gathered paint samples of the colors I wished to use in my project. The only money I spent was at Michael's on a 1" hole puncher and with a coupon is was about $7. After punching many holes, all you need to do is glue them however you like. It is another project with endless possibilities! As you can see I got a little sloppy at the bottom on the first one. It's best to choose one direction to place all the dots for a neater look. Or you can do the messy look as well, and it will still catch your eye. This is a quarter way finished for my next paint chip project. I have a idea in mind for this one it is going to take patience!

Been m.i.a since 2010!

I guess I should explain why I have not updated in over 3 years but it's not like I have any viewers. I will get up the nerve to share this blog with someone soon. Most likely my BFF *Alejandro will be the first to read this or my Mom and Mother in-law. I created another blog in September 2012 for my creations but the site has some security issues, so I am gradually moving everything over to this one. This Blog will consist of short but fun little vents, pictures of my artwork, my inspirations and whatever else I would like to share. I just need to find a fun, original name. Any idea's are welcome!

The days of "wondering" are over.

Facebook and Myspace and Twitter!! Lions and Tigers and Bears!! OH MY! With all the social networking sites out there, to bring you and old friends back together, has taken the, "I wonder what she's up to these days", to I know every aspect of your life and your Boss's middle name. Now you can see what your friends are doing, hour by hour or if you are lucky, minute by minute. But I don't really care that you are going to the doctor at 1:30 and getting your cats teeth whitened at 3. What happened to wondering? Now you don't need to. For those of you who do post every thought, idea or chore on your FB status...give it a rest. Think about it, who really wants to know what you had to eat for dinner in detail? Who really reads that? So why post it? I don't want to hear about your ingrown toenail. I wouldn't mind hearing a funny quote you saw or a new song that you just love. I recently had to ask a friend not to give all 360 people I am friends with a play by play of our girls night out involving a pole. My Mom is on Facebook now so I really don't need her to know that I had 4 glasses of wine and a shot the night before. I hate to say it but people judge. I have opinions now about people I know on FB because of their status updates. To me they are sharing to much info, bragging or they bored with their life. Hey, I'm not hating here... I am simply expressing my annoyance with Status update abusers. Yeah I know, freedom of speech and blah blah blah. I'm sorry about your UTI but somethings are meant to keep to yourself.

Why I started this blog

I am 30....30! And I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Which I am sure others can relate to. I am happily married, with no kids (not yet) and 2 cats. I am keeping my identity secret so nobody will ever know my location or who I am. So don't ask :o) Anyways I have a college degree with had concentrations in Art and Psychology. Now where can that actually take you? I tried sales(no thanks), counseling (no thanks), hospitality (no patience for it) and here I am now sitting behind a desk at a Hotel that offers no advancement or raise. There should be a course in college called Real World of Jobs 101 so you know what you are getting yourself into when you finally graduate with a degree in whatever you choose. Find myself feeling like I have more to give, learn and create. I know what I like and finding something that combines it all, is almost hopeless but not impossible. br />

Turning 30 was hard for me. I was thrown a huge surprise party and that all my friends and family came to. My best Friend, and my husband planned that party for me. I was being sulky and scared of turning the big 3-0. So I am sure I was a pain in the ass to throw a party for. I never been so grateful when I walked into my tiny home and had it filled with my loved ones. As I was saying turning 30 was like a new door being opened. Yeah I am still getting old and might be considered old now to teenagers but I know I am still young. I still get carded for wine, I'm still energetic but I do find my hangovers get worse the older I get. I looked at my life and realized I need something more. I need to do something, anything that I can be creative with.
